The BVI holding company Dixy Retail Limited holds 50.96% stake in Dixy Group, meaning that the BVI company is the majority shareholder of one of the leading Russian companies engaged in retail sales of foodstuff and household supplies.
Dixy Group was founded in 1992, after that it started operations under the trademark of Uniland. After the 1998 economic crisis in Russia, the company focused on the discount retail sector – the original distribution business continued to be a small part of the group's operations and was sold in 2006.
The first Dixy store was open in 1999 in Moscow. Dixy Group now operates three retail formats - Dixy, Megamart and Minimart. As of 1st December 2007, the company operates 372 units, including 8 “Megamart” compact hypermarkets and 7 “Minimart” supermarkets, in three federal districts of Russia.
